Coach Mindy Lee is a Nutrition, Health & Wellness Coach who wanted a functional, colorful website to reflect her personality and style. She came to me having pieced together some projects in design and web for herself, and having some small commissioned work, but frustrated with the lack of flow and connection to her true brand “feel.” We worked together to develop her logo elements, brand colors, and typography, and then we moved into the web design project.
She was initially concerned about the use of too much color – though she loved the idea of gold, red, and teal – she was afraid it would look too much like a “McDonalds” ad. I assured her that we could use these fabulous colors in a way that would be professional and tasteful – yet BOLD and unapologetic. Below are the screenshots from the finished design project. HERO ROTATING HEADER IMAGE
The hero image rotates between three beautiful, eye-catching photos, with her heading and intro on the left side.
ABOUT SECTION
She wanted to start with a simple, strong landing page that captured the important elements of her business. So following the hero image, we decided to share a brief “about mindy lee” section to include her mission, mantra, and a clear call-to-action.
QUALIFICATIONS
It was important for Mindy Lee to give visitors a clear glimpse of her qualifications and certifications right at the upswing, within the first couple mouse scrolls down – so they can see her credibility. I decided to use a simple gold logo image to match our color scheme for each item, with the description below.
PERSONALIZING MINDY LEE
As a nutrition coach, trust and authenticity are such important pieces to the client/coach relationship. We wanted to create a fun, playful way to “get to know” Coach Mindy Lee, so we included a “favorite things” section. I also included the 90’s color-belt (seen also on her contact page) as part of her brand identity package.
SERVICES SECTION
The next section includes an overview of Coach Mindy Lee’s services. Each featured service image is a clickable link that animates with a mouse hover. Since we decided to keep the site simple as a landing page, each services button takes the visitor to the contact page where they can get started by getting in touch with Mindy Lee.
FAVORITE THINGS / AFFILIATE LINKS
She also wanted to include a section for a few of the companies / organizations she works alongside. We featured World Concern, a 501c3 charitable organization she has been deeply connected with for years, along with a couple of her favorite affiliates.
SLIDE TEXT ANIMATION / SITE FOOTER
To add a little zest to the site, I created a slide text animation bar with her tagline above her footer. Slide text and simple (not overdone) animation can do a little to add to overall UX and overall site enjoyability. And, it’s also just fun!
For her site footer, she wanted to include her Instagram feed, since this is one of the main tools she uses to share news, updates, and info. I created a small icon image and then formatted the feed to include her most recent eight Insta posts. I included her site navigation menu on the bottom left. Since her site really includes only the landing page and contact page, I used anchor links to link to each section within her landing page.
CONTACT PAGE
Coach Mindy Lee wanted a contact page that was clear, to-the-point, and allows visitors to make a quick connection. We decided to create a button link to a separate contact form in order to keep the page clean and to have a very clear call-to-action. I’ve also included a screenshot of the contact form below. Simple, minimal elements allow the lead to clearly indicate what they’re interested in, and the form was built directly in WordPress, with submissions going right to Mindy Lee’s email inbox.
